Pet Food Recalled is Still on Store Shelves

April 12th, 2007 by jacky

When we thought that the pet food waters were safe to enter again, today, the FDA announce that tainted dog food products are still in circulation at some of our retail stores. However, the latest warning from the FDA is to alert pet food consumers that many retail stores may still have the recalled pet food on their shelves, we consumers should not assume because the products are still for sale, that they are safe for our pets to eat. One way to know that the tainted pet food had not been removed from the store shelves, is to notice that there are not any empty slots on the shelves, this would be a definite tell-tell sign.

The FDA has done a sample audit of about 400 stores in the nation, but did not add by name, stores that may still have contaminated pet food on the shelf. As stated by Stephen Sundlof, D.V.M., director of FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine, they are going to continue to monitor the retail stores to make sure that our pets have safe food to eat!

” Many of us are pet owners and animal lovers, and we want pet owners to feel assured that we are doing everything we can to make sure that all contaminated food is off the shelves.”

We should be alert and aware of the type of pet food we buy for our pet family!
